Revelation 5:9-10 records a new song of the redeemed where Jesus is praised for being our redeemer as He alone satisfied the requirements taking upon Himself the penalty of our sins. Look at the scope of fruit that His work accomplished as the song says that Jesus has, “redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation”.
Jesus redemptive work crossed four barriers:
Tribe: crossed every common ancestor
Tongue: crossed every common language
People: crossed every common race
Nation: crossed every common rule or government
And how was this accomplished? Well the song tells us that it was ,“by His blood”. Grace may be free but it was not cheap.
Next notice what else His blood accomplished beyond our redemption, it has “made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” Jesus’ blood not only redeems us it changes us from sinners to kings and priests.
That is what Paul tells the Ephesians in 2:3-6 “we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”.
